Eastern Kentucky University hosted a dedication event for the Veterans Education and Transition Support Center on Aug. 25. The center is located in Powell in the Jaggers room.

Dr. Richard Elmer Jaggers retired from EKU as professor emeritus in 1962. The room in Powell was named after him in 1971 when former EKU president Robert Martin recommended to the Board of Regents that the conference room be named in his honor.

EKU student veteran April Allen presented the National Anthem on Tuesday and Chaplain Robert Vickers provided the invocation at the event. Rick Schad, executive advisor for the Kentucky Dept. of Military Affairs, EKU President David McFaddin and U.S. Congressman Andy Barr spoke during the dedication event.
