Three EKU football players picked for preseason All-OVC Team

EKU running back Alonzo Booth and a pair of offensive linemen – Tucker Schroeder and Graham Ashkettle earned spots on the Preseason All-OVC Team.

Three Eastern Kentucky University football players were selected for the preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Team, the league announced on July 20.

Running back, Alonzo Booth and two offensive linemen, Tucker Schroeder and Graham Ashkettle earned spots on the team.

Booth, a redshirt junior from Columbus, OH., finished the 2019 season with 673 rushing yards on 140 carries and scored 14 touchdowns on the ground. Booth was chosen to the 2019 Academic All-District Team and earned second team All-OVC honors. He led the OVC and ranked 16th in the nation in rushing touchdowns.

Schroeder, a redshirt junior from St. Cloud, FL., received honorable mention for the HERO Sports FCS Sophomore All-America Team a season ago. He was also a second team All-OVC selection in 2019.

Ashkettle was a second team Academic All-America this past season. The redshirt junior  earned second team All-OVC recognition and appeared in 10 games.

The two offensive linemen helped Eastern rush for 2,468 yards in 2019, the second-most in the past 17 seasons by the Colonels.

The 2020 season is scheduled to kickoff at Roy Kidd Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 3 against Western Carolina.
