The Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) men’s and women’s basketball teams will play two doubleheaders this week on Feb. 2 and 4 with the women playing first and the men following.Â
The women’s team will play Lipscomb on Thursday with a 5 p.m. tipoff.
The EKU women enter the game against Lipscomb 6-3 in the ASUN (13-9 overall). The Colonels are coming off a split series after taking a loss to Florida Gulf Coast and a win against Stetson last week.
EKU looks to extend their current home winning streak to 11, after winning the past 10 games in Baptist Health Arena.
Lipscomb enters the game at 7-2 in the ASUN (13-8 overall). The Lady Bisons’ most recent game ended in a loss to Liberty by nine.Â
On Thursday, the men look to win their tenth home game in a row against Jacksonville State (JSU) at 7:30 p.m.
EKU’s men will enter the game at 7-3 in the ASUN (14-9 overall). They are tied for third in the conference with JSU entering at 3-7 in the ASUN (10-13 overall).
The second set of games is set for Saturday with the women taking on Austin Peay State University (APSU) at 4:30 p.m. and the men taking on Kennesaw State (KSU) for their First Responders and Military Appreciation Game at 7 p.m.
The women’s most recent matchup against Austin Peay was on Feb. 22, 2021 when the Governors bested the Colonels in Richmond, 49-65. The most recent win against the Lady Govs came in the 2016-2017 season when the Colonels beat APSU by nine.
The men look for redemption against KSU after losing to the Owls in a close game, 75-79, in Kennesaw, Georgia on Jan. 2. EKU leads the all-time series versus the Owls, 4-2, with both losses coming recently. The smallest margin of victory was by one point in a triple overtime home game in the 2021-2022 season.Â
All four games will be televised on ESPN+ with live statistics at ekusports.com. The women’s games will be aired on WEKY 92.5 FM with men’s being aired on WCYO 100.7 FM.
