EKU women's basketball falls to 0-13 in the OVC

The EKU women’s basketball team fell to the Murray State Racers on Thursday night in McBrayer Arena by a final score of 76-63.

The Colonels are eliminated from contention to qualify for this year’s OVC Tournament. EKU is 0-13 in the OVC and 2-22 overall this season.

Eastern out-scored Murray in the paint 26 to 22 and scored six points off of fastbreaks. Eastern Kentucky was led by Catie Kaifes with 15 points. She also had two blocks and five assists. There were four Colonels that scored in double figures. EKU had three blocks and seven steals in the game.

The Colonels came out of the locker room after halftime and out-scored the Racers 28 to 19 in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was a different story, however, as the Racers added 16 points to the scoreboard and held EKU to just six points. EKU led by one point with 8:56 in the fourth quarter, but Murray St. controlled the rest of the game. Eastern was held scoreless for the last 6:35 of the game.

Eastern Kentucky has five more games left in the regular season. The Colonels will be back in action on Saturday at Morehead State. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
