Women's basketball EKU vs. Austin Peay

Catie Kaifes looks for a teammate during the Austin Peay game on Thursday. EKU fell to the Governors by a final score of 80-60. Kaifes had eight points in the game and four rebounds. 

The EKU women’s basketball team kept it close for three quarters of action against Austin Peay on Thursday, but the Colonels fell to the Governors by a final of 80-60.

The Governors ran away with the game in the fourth quarter as they out-scored EKU 21-9.

The Colonels were led by senior Abby Wright with 16 points. She also collected six rebounds. Shay Solomon and Bria Bass also scored in double figures for Eastern. Solomon finished with 14 point and Bass ended the game with 12.

It was a game of lead changes, as there were 16 in the game. EKU scored 10 points off of fast breaks and scored 32 points in the paint against Austin Peay.

Eastern went cold in the last quarter. The Colonels didn’t score a field goal in the last 6:17 in the game.

With the loss to Austin Peay, EKU falls to 0-17 in the OVC and 2-26 overall this season.

Eastern Kentucky will look to win their first OVC game on senior day this Saturday against in-state rival Morehead State. Tipoff for the last game of the season is set for 4:30 p.m. Follow @SportsEP on Twitter for live updates.
