The EKU women’s basketball team fell to George Mason on Sunday by a final of 91-75. The Colonels fall to 1-8 on the season.
Senior Abby Wright led EKU in scoring with 18 points. She also collected four rebounds and had five steals.
Another stand out player in this game for the Colonels was Shay Solomon. Solomon had 17 points and six rebounds. She also had three assists and was perfect from the free throw line as she hit both attempts.
George Mason had it their way in the paint. The Patriots scored 40 points in the paint while Colonels only had 22 points in the paint.
Turnovers also hurt Eastern in this game. EKU turned the ball over 16 times and that led to 23 points for George Mason.
At halftime, EKU was only trailing by one point, 38-37.
In the second half of action, George Mason shot lights out. In the fourth quarter, the Patriots hit 12 of 13 shots (92.3 percent) and finished the game going 83.3 percent from the free throw line.
Eastern Kentucky is back in action this Saturday Dec. 15 when they travel to Charleston to face West Virginia. Tip off is set for 4 p.m.
