The Eastern Kentucky University soccer team fell in overtime to in-state rival Northern Kentucky University on Sunday night, 2-1.

The Colonels were not messing around as freshman Nerea de Diego was quick to the net with her first collegiate goal in the 12th minute, knocking EKU ahead, 1-0.

NKU bounced back in the second half with a goal from Sofia Wilmes, tying the game up, 1-1.

The Colonels would head into overtime, where NKU’s Morgan Jewell would sneak in a goal from a corner kick to take the match early in OT, 2-1.

The Norse out-shot the Colonels 13-9. NKU had five shots on goal compared to three for the Colonels.

EKU will be back on the field this Friday night in Milwaukee at 8 p.m.
