Eastern Kentucky University forward Tre King dunks the ball against Morehead State on Dec. 14.

The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team fell short on the road against Morehead State, 75-62.

“I’m disappointed how we started the game and how they came out and set the tone for the game, we can’t start a game like that,” head coach A.W. Hamilton said.

The Eagles came out aggressive against the Colonels in the first half after their loss only a week ago at McBrayer Arena.

EKU was only two points behind MSU going into halftime, 35-33.

“We played bad and they shot a lot of free throws and they attacked us,” Hamilton said.

The Colonels fought up until the last buzzer but wasn’t able to come out with a win, 75-62.

“We took a lot of hard shots… we got to fix that if we’re going to win on the road,” Hamilton said.

The Eagles broke a three game losing streak to the Colonels.

EKU shot 39.1 percent from the field while MSU shot 51.1 percent.

“What disappointed me the most is how we communicated on the defensive end… we got to do a better job at communicating on the floor,” Hamilton said.

Tre King led the Colonels with 17 points, three rebounds and three steals.

Wendell Green Jr. trailed behind with 16 points.

Curt Lewis had 13 points and six rebounds.

“We’re going to shake it off and keep fighting,” Hamilton said.

The Colonels will be at home on Dec. 17 against CU Harrodsburg. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and the game will be live on ESPN+.
