The men’s and women’s golf teams received Ohio Valley Conference honors last week.

On the men’s team, EKU senior Edvin Lindgren was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week on Oct. 10.  Lindgren led the Colonels and tied for fourth overall in a field that included 78 players at the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

“This the first time the Sweden native was chosen as OVC Men’s Golfer of the Week,” said Kevin Britton, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications, in an EKU press release.

The women’s team also saw an OVC honor last week. EKU senior Elsa Moberly was selected as the OVC Women’s Golfer of the Week on Oct. 10. Moberly led the Colonels and tied for 19 overall in a field that included 75 players at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in Lexington.

According to an EKU press release, “Moberly began the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 72 before closing with a round of 75 to finish with a 3-over total of 219 for the tournament.”

The team finished with a total of 882, which was the fifth lowest 54-hole total in program history.

Eastern Kentucky finished just one shot behind fifth place Notre Dame (881) and tied with Toledo (882).

The Colonels will return to the golf course when they play in the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston Oct. 21-23.

The men’s team will be back in action on Oct. 22-23 as they travel to the Little Rock Invitational held by Arkansas-Little Rock.
