The Eastern Kentucky University football season is just around the corner and the Colonels reported to campus on Aug. 2 and hosted their first preseason practice Aug. 3.

The Colonels will host 14 practices over a 16-day period. All practices are scheduled to be at Roy Kidd Stadium and are open to the public.

Scrimmages are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10 and Saturday, Aug. 17.

Eastern Kentucky is ranked 24th in the Preseason HERO Sports top 25 and 25th in the Lindy’s Sports Preseason Top 25.  EKU ended the 2018 season with four straight wins and were in the conversation for a playoff spot.  The Colonels finished 7-4 overall and third in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 5-2 mark.

Three EKU football games will air live on ESPN3 this season, according to an announcement by the Ohio Valley Conference, as part of its eight-game football “Game of the Week” package.

EKU’s home matchup against Tennessee-Martin on Oct. 5 will be the first of the three games on ESPN3.  The Colonel’s road games at Southeast Missouri on Nov. 9 and at Jacksonville State on Nov. 23 will also be aired on the network.
