EKU Athletics announce 17 new positive COVID-19 cases

Eastern Kentucky University Athletics sent out an email on Tuesday, August 18 stating that there are 17 new positive COVID-19 cases.

A total of 409 tests have been done since July 17. The last time tests were conducted was August 12.

“Since July 17, 409 COVID-19 tests were conducted locally for Eastern Kentucky University student-athletes and sport-specific coaches/staff members, or coordinated for student-athletes away from campus.  Among those 409 tests, 17 were positive,” Assistant Athletics Director for Communications Kevin Britton said in an email statement.

Britton said coaches, staff and student-athletes were tested both locally and away from campus.

With 17 new cases, that makes a total of 33 COVID-19 cases at EKU as of August 18.
