EKU baseball dominates UT Martin

The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team dominated the University of Tennessee-Martin on Friday night at Earle Combs Stadium. The Colonels’ bats were hot the whole game as EKU defeated the visiting Skyhawks by a final score of 21-6.

The 15 mile-per-hour winds didn’t impact how the Colonels performed in front of their home crowd and by the third inning the score was already 7-1. EKU had 20 hits in the ball game and held the Skyhawks to only 11 hits.

First baseman Corey Conklin finished the day 4-for-6 with seven RBIs and two runs scored. Right-hander Logan Teague started on the mound for Eastern and threw for 5.2 innings, picking up the win.

With this win, Eastern has earned their first Ohio Valley Conference win this season. The Colonels are now 12-10 on the season as they prepare to play two more games this weekend against UT Martin.

Eastern Kentucky will face UT Martin tomorrow at 2 p.m. The series finale will be Sunday at 1 p.m.
