Eastern Kentucky University has added two new online degrees in the graduate and undergraduate studies programs that will be available in fall of 2021.
“Students will have two exciting new opportunities to pursue as Eastern Kentucky University launches an online bachelor’s degree in global hospitality and tourism, and an online master’s degree in instructional design and learning technology in Fall 2021,” according to a press release.
Jerry Pogatshnik, executive vice president for academic affairs & provost said the degrees are miles apart in similarity; however, they still give students a new perspective and expertise in what they are studying.
“Although they are in different disciplines, both of these degrees provide students with a wide range of skills to help them be nimble and adaptive in their respective fields,” Pogatshnik said in a press release.
The global hospitality and tourism bachelor's degree will give cultural and technical driven students unique skills in the hospitality field.
According to the press release, “With concentrations in both gastronomic, or culinary, tourism and sustainable hospitality, this program prepares culturally competent and technically savvy graduates for key roles in the ever evolving and rewarding hospitality field.”
A more methodical stance is given with the instructional design and learning technology degree. Built more towards improving education and other workforces through efficient and practical teaching.
“The instructional design and learning technology master’s degree offers a systematic approach to improving learning outcomes in education and the corporate workforce by developing consistent, quality instructional products and experiences,” the press release said.
Both degrees will be attainable online and a factor that will make the classes easier at EKU is the addition of free textbooks to students at the start of the upcoming fall semester.
According to the press release, “EKU’s new BookSmart program provides all undergraduate students with free textbooks in Fall 2021, and free applications for both undergraduate and graduate programs.”
