The man killed Sunday night after being struck by a train in Berea has been identified as 38-year-old Douglas James Lacy of Berea. Lacy was formerly a resident of Georgia but had been living in Kentucky for the last few years, according to a Berea Police Department news release.

The accident occurred Sunday night at 11:14 p.m. and Berea Police were called to the train tracks around the crossing at Mayde Road and Menelaus Road after a train operator called authorities to the scene.

Lacy was lying on the tracks when he was struck, and the train’s operator said he was unable to stop in time.
