Barbecue lovers of Madison County lined up Tuesday morning for the grand re-opening of Sonny's BBQ in Richmond.

The southern-style barbecue restaurant re-opened their doors to customers after the completion of their recent remodel of both the inside and outside of the store.

Sonny's, which has been located in Madison County for more than two decades, now showcases over 5,000 square feet and seats up to 174 guests in their brand-new dining room featuring new lighting, seating and decor.

In a press release from the restaurant, officials stated that guest areas were refreshed, including a brand-new central bar and a "facelift" to their salad bar.

"We're excited for our team members and guests, said Scott Frantz, president of ACG BBQ LLC. We've had 20+ years of support from the Richmond community which has allowed us to reinvest in the community and restaurant. Thank you for your support and we look forward to making many more memories."

Starting at 10 a.m., members of the restaurant held a ribbon cutting and offered free pork big deals for the first 68 people and other deals following the remainder of the day.
