Richmond police arrested a man for first-degree controlled substance possession (methamphetamine) after officers pulled over a pickup truck that he was riding in the bed of Tuesday afternoon.

Officers then learned that the man, Oakley Bicknell Jr., 28, Northgate Drive, Richmond, was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear, according to a citation.

Police searched Bicknell before taking him to the Madison County Detention Center, and officers found a container in his left pocket that had a straw and a baggie, the citation states. The baggie contained a white crystallized substance consistent with methamphetamine.

Biknell remained in jail Wednesday afternoon, according to online jail records.

Richmond police arrested Emily Barron, 27, McDaniel Avenue, Richmond, for first-degree controlled substance possession (methamphetamine) after officers encountered a vehicle in the parking lot of Super 7 early Wednesday morning.

The driver was driving erratically in the parking lot, and while passing an officer, the driver was flailing around in the operator's seat, according to a citation. The driver parked, and officers approached them to make sure they were OK. Barron was a passenger.

The driver said they were OK and gave officers permission to search the vehicle, the citation states. Police found a folded piece of paper that contained a substance suspected to be methamphetamine inside Barron's purse.

Barron told officers that it was methamphetamine and said she purchased it earlier in the night, according to the citation.

Barron was taken to the MCDC, where she remained Wednesday afternoon, according to online jail records.
