UPDATE (July 27):

Lauren Early, office supervisor, for the Parking & Transportation Office said in an email to the Progress, "As of right now parking permits are staying at the same cost ($140 for the school year)."

According to Early, many students have been contacting the Parking & Transportation Office asking about parking permits in regard to only having to come to campus once or twice a week, or even a couple times a semester.

"For those students we have suggested to park in the pay-to-park lots on campus. Currently we have pay-to-park areas in the Mattox Lot, Whitlock Lot, the Parking Garage and Keith Lot. We are also working on adding pay-to-park spaces in Alumni Coliseum Lot," Early said.

The Parking & Transportation Office announced in an email on July 17 that students can now purchase their parking permits for the 2020-21 school year.

According to the email, students will need to register before the first day of classes on Aug. 17.

Additional Pay to Park spaces have been put in multiple lots on campus, and the Kit Carson Lot will now accommodate freshman and residents.

“Pay to Park spaces have been added in the Keith Lot, Park Drive East, and Kit Carson Drive below Clay Hall. The entire Kit Carson Lot will be designated as a dual lot for both freshman and residents,” the email said.

The Parking & Transportation Office announced that the Madison Gravel Lot, which is located next to Telford, is currently being paved and will be under construction until further notice. When construction is complete the lot will open.

“We will open this lot as soon as construction is complete which will add approximately 141 spaces to this area,” the email said.

The email also stated that students are required to wear a mask while riding the Big E Transit.

“Shuttles will be able to transport only a few students at a time. Please consider alternative modes of navigating campus where possible to allow this service for those traveling longer distances or those with mobility needs,” the email said.

To obtain a parking permit go to the NuPark Portal or through EKU Direct and follow the steps.
