The election process for EKU’s next faculty regent will be extended due to a lack of a 50 percent vote for a single candidate, said Faculty Senate Chair Matthew Winslow in an email to faculty on Monday.
Three faculty were nominated for the role of faculty regent: Jason Marion, professor in the Department of Environmental Health Science; Richard Crosby, a professor in the School of Music; and Zekeriya Eser, professor of finance. Marion and Crosby took the most votes, at 43.37 percent and 31.49 percent respectively. 362 people voted in total.
Marion and Crosby will compete in a runoff election from March 18 to March 29, Winslow said. All eligible voters will receive an electronic ballot on March 18.
