David McFaddin was appointed as the interim president of EKU during the EKU Board of Regents meeting on Dec. 12.

David McFaddin, Eastern Kentucky University’s senior vice president of operations and strategic initiatives, was appointed as interim president of EKU by the Board of Regents by an unanimous vote during the Dec. 12 board meeting. 

McFaddin is a 2002 graduate from EKU. In 2011, McFaddin began serving as an adjunct faculty member in EKU’s Department of Communication before being named executive director of government relations in 2013, according to a 2013 article by EKU .  

McFaddin began serving as senior vice president of operations and strategic initiatives in Spring 2019 after an administrative restructuring, according to an email from the President’s Office dated Feb. 6.

McFaddin obtained his doctorate of education in 2015 from EKU. His topic was  “The 21st Century University President: Building Blocks for Effective Rural Leadership.”  

McFaddin’s appointment comes one day after President Michael Benson announced his resignation from the position effective Jan. 6, 2020.
