The greatly anticipated CD from "American Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry was well worth the wait. Daughtry is packed with hard rock material.
Not only does Chris provide his talented vocal skills, but the band that backs him up take the CD to another level.
You have Joey Barnes as drummer and vocalist, Brian Craddock on guitar, Josh Paul as bass player and Josh Steely on lead guitar.
Those names might not sound familiar now, but I'm predicting they'll be more common in the months to come.
On the first track and debut single "It's Not Over," the chorus is not only catchy, but the whole song is so easy to sing along with and get hooked to.
I was automatically hooked and thus traveled to Wal-Mart and purchased the album shortly after.
The second track "Used To" is about wanting a relationship back the way it was.
Things have changed and he's just not sure why. He wants things back to normal, just him and his girl.
"Home" is a nice slow down. He talks about going home where everything is okay. But what he's really saying is that she is home. She makes him feel like everything's okay.
One verse says, "I'm going home/back to the place where I belong/and where your love has always been enough for me."
I love "Over You." The song talks about how the girl brought him to such a great place and then left him. The chorus sings, "Well I never saw it coming I should've started running a long long time ago and I never thought to doubt you/I'm better off without you."
Then he goes on to say how he never thought he would make it through the day she left: "Now I'm picking up the pieces/and spending all these years/putting my hear back together."
"Crashed" is one of my favorites out of all the songs on the CD. It starts out slower and somber, but then it picks up.
The song talks about how he didn't know what he was looking for, just getting around and then he meets someone and it talks about how he crashed into her.
"Then I crashed into you/and I went up in flames/could've been the death of me/but then you breathed your breath in me." It's really easy to sing along to as well.
One thing that really caught my attention about this album is the name Slash.
The one, the only Slash is featured on the track "What I Want." That alone makes it one of, if not, the best song on the album.
Where can you ever go wrong with Slash? GNR, come on now.
"What I Want" is upbeat and rocks out. And once again Slash.
His leads and solos are absolutely amazing. He makes the song
Overall, I would highly recommend this CD.
I hope this review reflects the majority's rule on the album.
I'd hate to get feedback on how wrong I was. But really, was Taylor Hick's CD that good? Just asking.
