Pitching struggles in losses to Southeast Missouri

The struggles continued for Eastern Saturday afternoon.Southeast Missouri swept Eastern (7-20, 1-4 OVC) in the double header. The Colonels lost game one, 7-6, and game two, 13-6.In game one, Eastern’s Bryan Soloman hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at 6-6, but a walk, a sacrifice bunt and a base hit to left field by SEMO in the top of the ninth proved to be the difference in the game.

Tigers claw their way past Colonels

What started as a close game, blew wide open in the third inning. Memphis piled on six runs in the third to essentially put the game away for the Tigers, beating Eastern 11-2 in the Memphis Baseball Classic.The third inning offensive out pour was enough for the Tigers, who improved to 6-2 on the year.

Baseball leads off 100th year

It’s been 100 years since Eastern baseball threw out its inaugural pitch.Since the first season in 1911, the Colonels have been making waves on the field. This year should be no different for Head Coach Jason Stein’s squad.The Colonels (28-17, 12-12 OVC in 2010) were picked in the preseason coaches’ poll to finish fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference, and look to build on the 2010 season, where they advanced to the OVC tournament for the first time since 2007.
