2016 Maroon and White Game Watch List

Bennie Coney, R-Senior, QB Since transferring from the University of Cincinnati, Bennie Coney has become a key offensive player for Eastern with outstanding performances against FBS school University of Kentucky and FCS rival Murray State. In 2015, Coney was named to the watch list for FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy. Look for Coney to mature in his senior year and win the starting quarterback position for the third consecutive year.   Ethan Thomas, Sophomore, RB After injuries plagued the depth chart last year, running back Ethan Thomas averaged 55.3 yards per game and earned a spot on the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team. The 5-foot-11, 210 pound sophomore will be aggressive in his pursuit for a starting position. Watch for Thomas’ ability to physically overtake a defender’s weak tackle and gain more yardage on each run.     Devin Borders, R-Senior, WR A frequent target for quarterback Bennie Conley, Borders leads wide receivers in receptions and is second on the team in yards. A 6-foot-6, 220 pound receiver from Florida, Borders also holds OVC records for seven career blocked field goals and twelve career blocked kicks.
