The Eastern softball team traveled to Nashville to take on Belmont in a double header this past weekend.
Game one saw the Colonels get dominated by the Bruins, as Belmont but up a quick 7 runs on a 10 hits through four innings.
Eastern could only manage to get 3 hits through the entire game. Pitcher Alex Sallberg suffered her eighth loss of the season, giving up five earned runs with three strikeouts.
The second game of the double header was a different story as the Colonels seemed to get rid of their offensive woes as they put up four runs in the first inning, followed by a fifth run in the second.
Belmont managed to put up two runs in the third inning, but Eastern would end blowing the doors off the game. The fourth inning saw the Colonels push the lead to 11-2 after six consecutive runs. The Colonels managed to score three more runs to give them a final score of 14-3.
Pitcher Mollie Paulick got the win for the Colonels, her fifth of the season, as Eastern takes the second game of the double-header.
The Colonels then traveled a few miles down the road for a Tuesday night matchup with Tennessee.
The game was a blowout from start to finish, with Tennessee taking a 6-0 lead in the first inning.
The Colonels scored in the second off of a Kelly Wood double which brought Hannah Clark into homebase. This would be the Colonels only run of the game as Tennessee won 10-1.
The Colonels return Saturday with back to back home games against SIUE and Eastern Illinois on Sunday. Both games start at 1:00 p.m.
