In an effort to improve student-athlete training facilities and impress upcoming recruits, EKU has partnered with Life Fitness to renovate all football facilities.

The new weight room will be a showcase for Life Fitness’ Hammer Strength equipment. While the facility is EKU’s to use, Life Fitness will bring clients to the weight room to both demonstrate equipment and hold clinics.

“The entire Hammer Strength team is thrilled to be a part of this national showcase facility located just down the road from Falmouth, KY, the proud home of Hammer Strength for nearly 30 years,” said Hammer Strength National Athletics Manager Lon Record.

Athletic Director Steve Lochmueller agreed with Record, saying that the school is happy to work with Hammer Strength equipment.

“I really enjoyed working with Life Fitness to bring this to reality,” Lochmueller said. “The process of working through equipment selection and design with Life Fitness will bring to life a facility that will give EKU student-athletes a first-class strength and conditioning experience.”

A familiar name will also pitch in on the new facilities: Ron and Sherrie Lou Noel.

The Noels, who graduated from the university and previously donated to the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity and the Noel Reading Porch, pledged $400,000 to the strength and conditioning renovations.

The new renovations will feature 20 platforms, 20 racks, and several weightlifting machines.

While the facilities are placed under the football program, Lochmueller was adament that the renovations will support all EKU teams.

“Every need is addressed,” Strength and Conditioning Director Jon-Michael Davis. ‘Whether it’s based upon a sport, based upon an injury or based on training maturity, we will have access to everything to help a student-athlete.”

EKU will reveal its completed facilities near the start of the spring semester. The full price of the renovation has not been disclosed.
