Jones passes 1,000 rebounds mark despite loss to Tennessee Tech

Making a little more than 25 percent of their shots and ending up getting blown out 67-47, the Lady Colonels lost to Tennessee Tech University.

Despite the tough loss, senior Alex Jones met a personal landmark when she passed the 1,000 rebounds mark for her career finishing the game with a team high of 10 rebounds. After Thursday’s game, Jones was just four rebounds shy of breaking Eastern’s career rebounds.

In addition, senior Brittany Coles also met a personal milestone by joining Eastern’s 1,000 point club.

“It felt good,” Coles said. “But it would’ve felt better getting the win, too.”

The Lady Colonels made just four 3-point baskets during the game, which the team shot a season-low 25.5 percent from the field.

After Tennessee built a 13-point lead by half time, the Colonels were never able to close the gap by trailing by double-digits the remainder of the game.
