Amandine Faouzi, a sophomore from Mareil Sur Mauldre, France, won the No. 1 singles match in two sets. The win boosted the Colonels winning home record to 5-1.

The women’s tennis team comes off of a two-game losing streak after a 7-0 sweep against Lindsey Wilson College on March 3. Lindsey Wilson was ranked No. 4 in the preseason NAIA national poll.
Sophomores Amadine Faouzi, Melissa Gerritsen and Marcela Jimenez as well as junior Carmen Rodriguez defeated their opponents in straight sets. Faouzi defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot, and at the No.4 spot, Melissa defeated her opponent by almost shutting her out going 6-0, 6-1.
Jimenez and Rodriquez continued to do work as they defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot and 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot.
Though not winning in straight sets, sophomore Kristina Labeja and junior Saioa Oscoz won convincingly over their competition. Labeja won the No. 2 match 3-6, 7-6(6), 6-2, and Oscoz rounded off the day as she defeated her opponent 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot.
When it came to the doubles, Eastern took the point with ease. Gerritsen/Labeja and Foauzi/Kinnen defeated their opponents with the scores of 8-4. At the No. 2 doubles spot, Oscoz/Poffo defeated their opponents by almost blanking them 8-1.
Eastern improves its record to 6-4 overall with this win against Lindsey Wilson.
The Colonels will travel to play four matches over spring break.
