The Colonels’ baseball team (2-2) hit a bump in the road on Wednesday. The team took a short bus ride to Louisville and lost , 7-2.
Senior Michael Garcia hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning which brought home junior Shaun Ball and cut the Cardinal lead to one, 3-2. But Louisville put the game out of reach for the Colonels with four late runs in the sixth to make it 7-2.
Junior left -hander got the loss in his first start as a Colonel. He went 2.1 innings, allowed three runs on six hits and struck out one. Fellow junior, Andrew Wilson, a right-hander, who was also making his first start, came on in relief in the bottom of the third. Wilson pitched 3.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits.
The Colonels are back in action this weekend as they travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on the University of South Carolina- Upstate in a three-game series.
