As the national primary race heats up between Sens. Hillary Clinton, D. NY, and Barack Obama, D. Ill., both look to make their mark in Kentucky over the next few weeks. And Eastern will be a staging ground for the battle.
Chelsea Clinton is scheduled to make a campaign stop Thursday at Eastern, where she will speak in the Powell building cafeteria, said Dale Emmons, a democratic political consultant in Richmond who has been working on the Clinton campaign in Kentucky.
Eastern confirmed Clinton’s campaign stop Wednesday afternoon after Secret Service officials gave the official call. Emmons said representatives for the Clinton campaign came to Eastern to examine the Powell building and then authorized approval for Clinton’s visit.
Clinton is expected to arrive at 1:15 p.m. and will have a meet and greet with those in attendance. Emmons said she will then host an approximate 45-minute question-and-answer session.
