Eastern point guard Adam Leonard confirmed Thursday he would be transferring from Eastern before next season.The Kansas City, Mo. native said the effects of being far away from home impacted his decision.
“I just want to play closer to home,” Leonard said. “Right now, I only get to go home maybe once a year.”
The sophomore point guard said he was still unsure of what school he will be transferring to next season.
In his first season as a Colonel, Leonard was named the Co-OVC Freshman of the Year following the 2006-2007 season. He averaged 12.5 points per game and tied an Eastern record for 3-pointers made in a season with 104.
Leonard followed up his freshman campaign with a solid performance during the 2007-2008 season. He averaged 11.9 points per game and led the team in assists, averaging 3.1 points per game.
Eastern Head Coach Jeff Neubauer could not be reached for comment.
