Eastern head football coach Danny Hope received the American Football Coaches Associations (AFCA) Regional Coach of the Year Award for the 2007 year.Hope started his coaching career at Louisville, jumping to a number of Division I programs before being granted his head-coaching job at his alma mater.
Hope has an overall head coaching record of 35-22 (.614). Putting Eastern back on the national stage with five consecutive winning seasons, three-time OVC runners-up and, most recently, an OVC title and playoff appearance.
All five divisions of college football, Division I FBS, Division I FCS, Division II, Division III, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), recognizes five regional coaches of the year.
Finishing 9-3 on the year, coach Hope is one of five other coaches to win an AFCA regional award in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
Other head coaches include: Richmond’s Dave Clawson, Fordham’s Tom Masella, Delaware State’s Al Lavan, Northern Iowa’s Mark Farley and South Dakota State’s John Stieglmeier.
All five coaches will be considered for the 2007 AFCA National Coach of the Year Award, which will be announced January 2008.
