With sold-out shows across the southeast and Lexington area, the Student Activities Council (SAC) said Corey Smith was the man to bring to campus for Eastern’s fall concert.Corey Smith, a Georgia native, is all about putting on a good show, according to his official Web site.

“It’s not marketing savvy that sells, it’s the music and that’s where he (Smith) truly shines,” the Web site stated.

A mixture of country, rock and blues is what the makes Corey’s “distinctive musical flair,” according to the Web site.

Justin Hobbs, SAC concert chair, said after a lot of research on available artists, Corey Smith was the best fit for Eastern.

Hobbs said SAC wanted to bring a concert for students and the community alike to enjoy in a smaller, more intimate way.

In doing so, the concert will be held in Brock Auditorium rather than Alumni Coliseum.

With high expectations of a great show, Hobbs said he hopes everyone comes out to experience the concert. Hobbs said if you haven’t heard of Corey Smith, then you should really check him out online for yourself. Better yet, “Come check out the show,” Hobbs said. As for the spring concert, Hobbs said SAC is looking at a few acts but would like feedback from the student body. So he encourages everyone to come to council meetings. Corey Smith will be in concert Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. in Brock Auditorium and tickets are $8 with an Eastern ID or $15 general admission and are on sale now.
