The Eastern women’s golf team finished just 37 strokes behind the Universtiy of Toledo and third overall in the EKU Spring Invitational.Toledo was led by tournament individual champion Tammy Clelland.

Eastern shot 316-324 and 319 to tally 959 for the tournament.

The Colonels were led by junior Rachel Montgomery’s 84-78-78.

Her three-round total of 240 was enough to tie her in 11th place.

Sophomore Kellie Warner totaled just one stroke back for the tournament and tied for 14th place. She shot 81-79-81 for a 241 total.

Warner was coming off a week that saw her being named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week.

She earned the award on the strength of of her sixth-place finish at the Saluki Invitational held March 26-27.

It was her sixth top-ten finish of the year. She equaled her top single-round score of the spring with a 76 in the final round of that tournament.

It was the second award in as many weeks for the Eastern woman’s golf team.

The week prior, sophomore Leslie Booth took player of the week honors on the strength on her NIU Snowbird Intercollegiate and the Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate efforts.

She was Eastern’s top finisher in both tournaments.

Booth shot 79-82-85 for a three-round final total of 246 to finish 29th.

Junior Aubree Moore shot 77-85-81 for a 243 total. Her score was good enough for a top-20 finish.

She tied for 20th overall in the tournament.

Senior Kelly Flynn finished with a score of 79-87-79 for a 245 total. She finished 24th.

Eastern also had four competitors competing as indviduals.

Sophomore Melissa Rosloniec shot 84-86-88 for a 258 total.

Freshman Lindsay Williams also shot a 258. Her three round scores were 82-86-90.

The two tied for 59th.

Junior Shellie Stevens shot 90-90-83 for a 263 three-round total.

Eastern will compete in the OVC Championship April 17-19 in Paducah, Ky.
