2004 women’s expo held later this monthThe office of Student Life is sponsoring a two-day Women’s expo Tuesday and Wednesday. Session topics on Tuesday include a personal account about endometriosis and women’s health, “SOS: Surviving Our Super Women-Syndrome,” a women’s luncheon, “HERstory (history) about women yesterday, today and tomorrow,” a talk by Richmond Mayor Connie Lawson and a “Women’s Leadership Focus.” Wednesday will consist of vendors and services regarding women. To attend one of these sessions, pick up a ticket from the office of Student Life in the Powell Building. At 8 p.m. singer Shevy Smith will perform, along with an open mic opportunity.

“Dangling Conversations” discusses 13 topics

The department of criminal justice and police studies will host a mini-conference April 8-9 in Room 333 of the Stratton Building and April 10 in the Stratton Mezzanine. There will be 13 topics facilitated for conversation, and the mini-conference is free and open to the public.

Computer fair held today in Student Services Building

Eastern’s computer store will host a computer fair today from 1-4 p.m. in the Student Services Building. The computer store plans to hold the fair annually. Vendors at the fair include IBM, Apple, Lexmark, IKON, Dell and Corporate Express, among others. There will be seminars at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. about EBM, IBM, Apple and Dell.

Series on getting published offered this April

Mark Garrett, Stephen King’s first editor, will present his workshop “How to be Published” April 2-4 in the Perkins Building. Registration is required prior to the workshop. The cost is $42 per evening session and $64 per day session. Friday will be “A Guide to Publishing” from 1-4 p.m. and “Screenwriting” from 6-9 p.m. Saturday will be “How to be a Published Author” from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and “Short Story and Novel Feedback” from 6-9 p.m. Sunday is “Creating a Novel” from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Environmental fair comes to Eastern’s campus

Eastern’s Earth Days in the Cumberlands Environmental Fair will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., April 22, near the Powell Building. There will be speakers, activities, informational tables, workshops and music by the Betweeners. If any department or organization would like to host a table during the fair, email or call 622-3065.

SGA candidacy forms now available in Powell Building
Students who wish to join the Student Government Association next year may now apply. Pick up forms from 9 a.m.-5p.m. in the SGA office. Forms must be turned in by Tuesday and attend a meeting in the Ferrell Room of the Combs Building Tuesday.
